Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about using Poop Log Tracker and understanding your bowel habits. This page is for general information only — it is not medical advice.

Using the Tool

How do I log a bowel movement?

Select the hour and minute of your last bowel movement, choose AM or PM, then click Log. Your entry appears in the table with the time interval since your previous record.

Where is my data stored?

All records are saved in your browser's local storage only. Nothing is sent to a server. If you clear browser data, switch browsers, or use a different device, your history will not carry over.

Can I export or back up my records?

There is no built-in export feature yet. Because data lives in localStorage, clearing site data or browser cache will permanently delete your log. Take a screenshot of the table if you want a manual backup.

Do I need an account?

No. Poop Log Tracker works immediately without sign-up, email, or login.

Understanding Bowel Habits

How often is it normal to have a bowel movement?

There is no single "normal" schedule for everyone. Healthy bowel frequency varies widely — from about three times a day to three times a week is often considered within a typical range. What matters most is what is normal for you and whether your pattern changes suddenly.

What does the "interval from previous" column mean?

It shows how much time passed between the current entry and the one before it. Tracking intervals over weeks can help you notice whether your rhythm is steady, speeding up, or slowing down.

Does skipping a day mean something is wrong?

Not necessarily. Diet, hydration, travel, stress, exercise, and medication all affect bowel habits. A single missed day is usually not a concern if you feel well otherwise. Look for persistent changes rather than one-off events.

What can affect bowel regularity?

When to See a Doctor

When should I talk to a healthcare professional?

Contact a doctor if you notice any of the following, especially if symptoms are new, severe, or lasting more than a few days:

When in doubt, it is always safer to ask a qualified provider rather than self-diagnose.

Can this tool diagnose a medical condition?

No. Poop Log Tracker is a personal log for awareness only. It cannot detect disease, recommend treatment, or replace a clinical evaluation. See our Medical Disclaimer for full details.
